Causes Of Water Pollution

I'm sure you know what the causes of water pollution are, but do you understand how they became pollutants? Well read bellow for you to gain knowledge how these things became pollutants.

As you all know the earth is composed of seventy percent of water. Water is essential for our everyday living. Did you know that the lakes, rivers, oceans and most specially our drinking water is being affected by water pollution and therefore they cause serious health problems to people and as well as to the environment.

By reading this article, you will know the causes of water pollution and how we can prevent them from harming us and our mother earth. Here the some of the different types of water pollution.

- One of the natural resources of the earth is surface waters. Usually you can find them on the earth's crust and this includes river, oceans and lakes. When this water becomes polluted they will then be called surface water pollution. There are many causes why surface water pollution occurs. usually sewage is the main cause of surface water pollution, sewage are also known as wastewater which usually contains laundry waste, dishwashing waste, urine and faeces. Disposing these wastes is a big problem in the country today that is why the rivers and the lakes are the one who suffers. Sewage water pollution can cause diarrhoea and such.

- Ocean water pollution is the next one. Usually our oceans are being polluted by routine shipping, oil spills, dumping and as well as run-offs. One of the most serious problems here is the oil spills because the quantity that is being spilled on the ocean is big and this sometimes happen in just one area of the ocean. This can lead to suffocation of the fish because oils cannot dissolve in the oceans which will make the ocean very dangerous from marine life.

- Next is littering in the sea, ocean or any form of water. Don't you know that this is one of the most major problems when it comes to water pollution? Yes, it is because people are having a hard time throwing their trashes on the right place, so they just dump those wastes on the sea or such. This can definitely cause death to many of the species under the sea. What is worst is that it takes too long before these wastes degrade. Here are some sample wastes that we often see in the sea and such:

- Foams which takes fifty years before it eventually degrade

- Glass which takes a very very long time to degrade

- Styrofoam which takes a whooping eighty years before it eventually degrade

- Aluminium which takes two hundred years before it totally degrade

- Plastic packaging which takes four hundred years before it totally degrade

- Newspaper and cardboard takes two to six weeks before it finally degrade

See how these things can affect the water for a long period of time? So make sure to throw all those wastes in the right places to prevent the causes of water pollution.
